# Catch up on a Slack channel

This skill is read-only. Use the Slack connector's read and search tools. Do not send, update or create anything in Slack; if the user wants a reply or a canvas, that is a separate request and needs their explicit approval of the exact text.

## Steps

1. Identify the channel or thread from the user's message. If the name is ambiguous, use `slack_search_channels` and ask which one.
2. Read the channel with `slack_read_channel` from the time the user gives, such as since yesterday or since Monday. If no time is given, read the last day and say so.
3. Open each thread that has replies with `slack_read_thread`. Do not summarise a thread from its first message alone.
4. For a topic the user names, search with `slack_search_public_and_private`. Use `slack_search_users` only to resolve who said or owns something.
5. Use `slack_read_user_profile` only when the user needs a person's role to understand a message.

## What to report

- Decisions made, with who made them and when.
- Open questions, and who was asked.
- Messages that need the user's reply, in order of how long they have waited.
- Anything you could not read, such as private channels outside the user's access.

Quote short phrases only. Keep the summary to what was said. Do not infer intent that the messages do not show.
